Since I was so inspired by the blog I mentioned yesterday, I thought I'd jump on board the idea of chronicling my health goals. So, my gal pal Nikki asked me if I'd be up for a run on the indoor track today (she started training for a half marathon) and so I went along. It was exactly the motivation I needed. I ran 3 miles, walked for a half mile and biked for a 10 minute cool down. I feel GREAT!
Now it's time for some lunch (it's 3:45pm)...

craziness is over
Well we've survived our 3 weeks of craziness. It's now just time to coast through the end of the school year and into summer. I have a new favorite worst & best part of spring.
Worst= being 5 weeks behind the rest of the world in welcoming spring and new blossoms.
Best= it's at least warm enough for Annie's annual spring haircut!

She got "the works" and no longer warrants being called Miss Tuna.
I had the weekend off of work and spent my time staining the bathroom vanity and painting more cabinets in the basement. With the weather starting to warm up (a balmy 40 degrees) it's motivating me to get my indoor projects done.
On Sunday I did 2 things that I rarely do: visited Menards and bought a candy bar. Seems pretty normal, right? Well, I am a Home Depot girl to the core b/c I find Menards to be overwhelming. But I really needed the espresso wood stain that Menards carries. The Menards experience didn't disappoint. I happened to show up on Grand Opening day and was amused by the throngs of people in line for Sprecher root beer samples. I also needed to buy a wood clamp and once I actually found the right aisle, I called my dad right away for his advice on which of the 800 clamps to purchase. Again- so overwhelmed! After nearly an hour of getting behind hundreds of people shuffling their feet and drooling over the bargain bins, I treated myself to a bag of peanut butter M&Ms- a big bag!
Sunday night we hung out with Nikki & Henry. We brought Pizza Luce and Nik& Hen flattered us by opening up their wine they've been aging since 2000. Thanks guys!
The last bit of rambling I have is that I came across this blog today: PriorFatGirl
I find it very inspiring to see someone be so honest with their weight loss. As someone who tracks her food and exercise everyday, I find it admirable that someone has the guts to be public about their weight loss journey.

SPRING!
Worst part of spring... Finding Annie's not-so-hidden treasures in the yard now that the snow is melting.
Best part of spring... new super soft bed sheets at a great deal.
All accomplished today in 51 degree weather- finally!
Happy Birthday to Dianne and Sammie today!
Oh, and I think the warm weather is helping me get over my nasty cold. Bring on the sunshine!!

highlights
Two highlights from last weekend:
First (and best) highlight was seeing a middle aged man from Aitkin (a small town) at the high school playoff games wearing black, red & white zubaz, a hooded sweatshirt that barely covered his belly, a Nascar hat and sporting a mullet. I pity the girl who had to claim him as her father/uncle/relative.
Second highlight was a dessert Mikey thought of. It is Rippin Good Gingersnap cookies dipped in
Haagen Dazs Hawaiian Lehua Honey & Sweet Cream ice cream. It is the most amazing combination of goodness I have ever had!
I've managed to come down with a nasty cold this week. Couldn't be worse timing with this being my busiest time at work. On the plus side, I've been getting a lot of sleep so hopefully it'll go away soon.
Last week I went to Duel of the Design with my friend Kari. It was a great time. Here's a link if you want to see some pics from the event (look at the March 11th post):

yoga + the animals=
Anything but a relaxing experience!
I started a fitness challenge today. Goal is to do 2 fitness classes a day for two weeks. Since one of the fitness classes was scheduled during my HR class tonight, I thought I'd stay on track by doing a yoga video at home. I've realized that my husband has created a monster with playing with the animals (aka "wrestling") at their level. The yoga instructor is telling me to relax my forehead and eyeballs while laying down but how could I relax when there's a dog licking my face and ears? Mikey plays this game with Anna where he flops her ears around to get her fired up. Well in my attempt to keep her out of my face by pushing her back, she interpreted that as the "ear game"... for 20 stinkin' minutes! She was also quite interested in my fleece pants. Damn dog. And I thought she was spayed. I finally got her to chew on her bone (after many giggles 'cause I really couldn't be mad at her since she's so cute), I was able to close my eyes for the last 5 minute relaxation lesson. Well, no less than 2 minutes later, I was startled by some whiskers tickling my face. Kramer decided to check things out too. At that point, I rolled up the yoga mat and muttered, "why bother..."
To a better day of exercise tomorrow!
