how we roll

I just love this pic of Mike and his dad. Beers & lawn chairs= cigar smokin' and pig grillin' good time. Mike's 'rents were up visiting last weekend to help us start the pig roasts on the grill. More on that later...

Our neighbors surprised us last night with a huge food delivery:

That's 15 pounds of yogurt, 6 pounds of grapes & half of a coffee cake.

A couple night's ago, Mikey made this yummy stir fry all with veggies we had in our fridge. All of the produce is from our CSA delivery, our garden, & Mike's parents garden. I LOVE fresh summer produce.

Now to the pork grillin... we are prepping for a groom's dinner a week from today. We are making pork tacos for 88 guests! The logistics of doing this have been challenging but we are really looking forward to all of our planning, prepping and cooking come to life and seeing everyone enjoy the food. Mike worked with a local butcher to get 5 of these suckers:

20 pounds of pork bliss! We've been able to cook one of these packages per time on our Weber grill. They get smoked & grilled for 10+ hours each time. So far we've devoted 3 days to get 3 packages done. Mike's dad is grilling the last package this weekend and we'll need to do one more package next week. Our neighbors are starting to ask about the constant grill smells!! I think they're hoping we're planning for a big block party:)

One of our logistical challenges has been finding refridgerator space for all the food. We'll start putting everything together next Thursday but for now our fridge looks like this:

You're seeing a 16 pound box of avocado puree for the guacamole we'll make. On top of that is a 5 pound container of peeled garlic! There's also a gallon jug of lime juice with another one on order & set to be delivered tomorrow. This is only the tip of the iceburg.

We also managed to part with our piano this week. Our neighbors have a ten year old daughter that is going to start piano lessons. Before photo:
After phot0... the only thing that remained were dust bunnies & hidden cat toys. Kramer was delighted. He's laying on top of the dust pile and 2 of his toys:

It was good timing because now we're using that space to stock all the non-perishable stuff for the Groom's BBQ next week:
I should probably mention what's on the menu.
-Shredded pork tacos w/ a spicy taco sauce
-Asian slaw
- Soba noodle salad w/ a citrus vinagrette
-Salsa & chips
-Guacamole & chips
-Key Lime Pie

It's going to be GREAT!!
