Saturday a.m. came way too quick but we had a fun day planned. Today's agenda:
-Sleigh Ride with Tre & Jim
-studying
-Take Annie for a walk
-Mikey work
-studying
-Dinner at Pizza Luce
-Bentleyville!
So, I had breakfast in the car (per usual). 2 pears with almond coconut granola and coffee:
Our sleigh ride adventure ended up being quite different than we expected. It was more of an educational working experience rather than a relaxing stroll through the woods. Here we are all bundled up:
Tre & Jim:
The owners of Positive Edventures also do sled dog rides/racing. They have 32 adorable dogs:
We did everything from:
- getting the horses from the pasture
- grooming them
- putting the bridle, harness and all their gear on
-un-tarping and pulling the wagon out of the woods (there wasn't enough snow for the sleigh)
-hooking the horses up to the wagon
-learning to "drive" the horses
-finally went on a ride on the country roads
-then did everything in reverse to the point of putting the horses back in the pasture!
Here is Tre & Mike practicing driving the horses:
We were there for 2 1/2 hours and we certainly learned a lot. I just wished it would have been a little more low key with a longer ride time. It was a good way to embrace winter!
We got back in time for Mikey to get to work. I did a little studying and then took Anna out for a walk. This was the first time I had geared her up with dog booties! Mikey usually takes her out in the winter so I was really suspicious how they would work. The verdict? They are GREAT! Unfortunately, they are starting to show some wear and tear after only 3 walks:
This post is dedicated to Anna and our walk. Totally spunk-tastic! Whew, she really needed it!!
I got a couple more hours of studying in before I went to dinner with Tre & Jim. We had 15 minutes to burn until our table was ready so we (Jim & I) enjoyed some drinks. I had a Peppermint Patty:
It had Rumplemintze, Kahlua & cream in it. It was part of their winter warm-up menu!
I had a coupon for a free appetizer so we started with the awesome artichoke dip. Dinner was Baked Potato Pizza- a must have favorite (I had 2 slices):
With dinner, I had a pint of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. Thanks for the good eats and drinks. It was great to catch up with these soon-to-be parents (March 1st):
As you can tell, we went to Bentleyville after Pizza Luce. I had a great time once again.
After all the fresh air I got, I was tuckered out and asleep on the couch by the time Mikey got home from work.
Sunday a.m. came way too fast as well! Today's agenda included:
-Brunch at Pizza Luce with Nellie & Bruce
-nap
-studying
-walk Anna
-studying!!!
We managed to get downtown by 9:40 for brunch at Luce. Nellie & Bruce asked us to come out to brunch to celebrate Christmas with them and some of their friends. I had coffee and breakfast bruscetta which had pesto, sun dried tomatoes, scrambled eggs and basil leaves on 4 pieces of a baguette.
Pizza Luce's brunch is famous for its build your own bloody mary bar and live music. Mikey built himself a bloody mary and had the Pesto Eggs Benedict. It has artichoke dip on it!
Feeling sleep deprived, we came home and took a nap. After rising from our slumber, I did more studying and Mikey caught up on some phone calls.
After 1.5 hours of mind draining studying, I took a break by joining Mikey on a walk with Anna. It was a lovely evening for a walk... quiet, dark, Cmas lights & huge snow flakes.
For dinner, we used up some random things in our fridge. The concoction was a sausage and spinach pasta with a red cream sauce:
I had this one glass of wine with dinner.
I wrapped up the day with 3 more hours of studying for my final exam for managerial accounting tomorrow. I will be such a happy camper around 8pm when my test is over! Anna is also getting groomed just in time for Christmas. Should be a good Monday!
