Where do you get your workout motivation from? I get mine from:
It's great to have a workout buddy to get excited about a workout every day. We never do the same thing 2 days in a row and we never do the same exercises every week. Today we worked out at 4:00 and that meant Oprah was on! Our workout consisted of running during the show and walking during the commercials. We did 45 minutes today and I feel great! It's still a bit hard for me to run for the whole time during the show segments so today I walked at 4.3mph @ 4-6% incline for (just) one of the segments. Last week I had to do the walking incline for 2 segments. My goal is to be able to run during all the show segments. I'm getting so close!
But, I'm getting ahead of myself.... Here's a recap from yesterday.
Breakfast & lunch consisted of the exact same thing as yesterday- yogurt, banana, coffee, veggie sandwich w/ mustard and tomato soup. Then at 2:00 Nikki and I did a Med Ball workout. It's a 45 minute group exercise class led by some great instructors. I always feel sore for days after this workout. I'm counting on this class to whittle my middle & strengthen my back. Think jump roping, running, squats, lunges all while twisting & tossing a 6-8 pound ball. It kicks my butt! It should also give Nikki and I Michelle Obama arms because we do A TON of tricep curls!
At 5:45 I got home and Mikey and I planned our semi-routine Taco Tuesday:
Totally delish! Mine was a taco salad of sorts with blue corn tortilla chips on the bottom. We used Organic Prairie ground beef for these tacos but I must say that Thousand Hills Cattle Co. is MUCH better. Thousand Hills ground beef is much more tender and succulent. Go Thousand Hills! We're hoping to order 1/8 of a cow from them sometime after Christmas. Our deep freeze needs to be filled!
After dinner, I had a hankering for more granola bars so I quickly whipped up a small batch:
After a few samples, Mikey and I headed off to UMD's DocTalk. The topic for this month was "Debunking the Myths of Death Panels... Death & Dying in Duluth." It may seem like we're a little on the crazy side for going to this, but it was fascinating! It was interesting to hear about legislation that is in the works for reimbursing doctors for counseling patients on end of life decisions. In addition to learning about new legislation, we also talked about the importance of living wills and I now feel like the task of completing one is much less daunting. We got some great insight on how some recent medical cases in Duluth have been handled.
We managed to make it on the news (just our faces) as WDIO TV was covering the talk. Mikey was a bit embarrassed. He's such a willing participant:)
Now, for today...
Breakfast was a banana, granola bar & coffee:
Lunch was... big surprise-- more leftover squash pasta! And some good 'ol H20.
As previously mentioned, I fit in a 45 minute workout on the treadmill (eww):
I was ravenous when I got home so I ate a granola bar and then Mikey and I split these 2 sandwiches from Sir Ben's:
This is the "Sir Melt" veggie & cheese sandwich. It's served open faced on one slice of 7 grain bread with mustard on the side.
The other sandwich we split was a classic Reuben. This sandwich was like the size of my head! It seems a lot less guilty eating this when you realize each of us only ate half. We just had water & Diet Coke at home with these.
We're still monitoring Mikey's mystery illness. To keep tabs on any possible infections, we had to buy a thermometer.
Froggie says Mikey is A-OK with his temp:
P.S. I had nothing to do with picking this thermometer out. I wasn't even at the store. I love Mikey's humor.
I love that you said "whittle my middle:)" PS after seeing your teenie tiny pathetic lunch no wonder you were starving when you got home!
